2009 Day 53 Crowder Mountain

I would say there were more photos from the hike on flickr, but that would be a lie. When hiking a 5 mile steep mountain trail with guys who are in shape and half your age, there is no time for picture taking. Breathing becomes the top priority on the way up. Not rolling down the mountain is the aim on the way down. This is from the top.

2009 47 The forgotten day

I did not take one photo yesterday and totally forgot to update my blog, so here is another photo from Sunday's hike. I guess it is a weed, but it was a nice spot of color among the winter browns and grays.

2009 Day 46 Congaree River Trail

The 10 mile hike on flat terrain was not a difficult one, in spite of the muddy trail. There were some big trees!! More photos of Congaree on Flickr.

2009 Day 43 Roosevelt Wilson Park

I loved this guy in the sun and shadows.

It's still amazing to me, after growing up in the south, that February means spring is coming!

I can't figure it out. Why litter? The park could be a lovely one, but it is full of junk.

Caught up!!

I've been without a computer for over a week, and had trouble with my camera's memory card at the same time. I'm finally caught up, but to see the backlog you will need to keep scrolling down!

My name is Laura and I am addicted to internet access.

2009 Day 40 Spring's on the way!!

2009 Day 39 Whose hair?

2009 Day 38

The above is the ice Jonathan and I removed from our pond when we freed one of my fish!

It's a neat store!

The above sign was on the door of the public library's men's restroom. Wonder why just the men's?

2009 Day 35 Snow!

Of course it is the "day after," and in the South that means it is almost gone--but we still get excited!! Even more snow photos on Flickr.

2009 Day 34 Surprise!!

I left work in the wee hours and discovered it had been snowing!

2009 Day 33 Latta Plantation

2009: Day 32 Reedy Creek--Take 2

Way out in the wood stand the ruins of an early 1900's stone house. The colors and textures were wonderful for photography, but unfortunately the light was not as wonderful.
Beside the house stood (at one time) a huge Osage Orange tree which arborists say was probably planted around 1770. It toppled during an ice storm in 1987, but the huge tree's skeleton still remains as a fascinating place to play and explore. The above is a branch, not the trunk.

What does this look like to you (if you didn't know it was a hole in a branch :-) )? More photos of the hike are on Flickr.

2009: Day 31 Reedy Creek Park

My hiking partner

The little things are fascinating.

Better snuggle down; it will be below freezing tonight! (More photos from the hike are on Flickr)
