Good Tools

With the right tools and know-how, even my wild curls can be tamed. So far only in the chair of a professional, however!

Wall Preservation

This morning I took part in a project with my outdoors club that made use of the expertise of one of its (Scottish) members to restore a portion of a historic dry stone wall in a church cemetery. More photos at The Wall.

The ultimate test (we passed!)

Friends from a former life

I hadn't seen them in 12 years or so, but they are only two hours away now, so maybe we'll see more of each other. The added bonus was catching them babysitting their new granddaughter at their furniture store!

Decisions, decisions....

Just Fresh

My son is here for a couple of days. He helped me with furniture and fabric choices this morning, we attended a production of Little Shop of Horrors this afternoon (he played the dentist in his high school production) this afternoon, then we spent a while in Home Depot considering paint colors. At long last, we ate dinner at my new favorite restaurant, Just Fresh.

Shadows

What's blooming?

I took a quick walk through the UNCC botanical gardens yesterday.

Gorgeous magnolias

Lovely iris

Flame azalea

And rhododendron of every kind; a little past their prime but still wonderful!

Roadside attraction

I've watched this building through the seasons, and for some reason I like it. Right on the edge of the road, with railroad tracks on the other side, it just seems to have a lot of character. Winter shows a lot of the building with skeletal trees, whereas in spring/summer the natural growth takes over.

Last weekend's walk

I found this picture in my camera when I got home. Surprise!

This is the picture I thought we were taking!

And here's a friend who was asleep in the tree roots (we discovered him after we'd climbed all over the tree)
