2009 3/30 Day 89 Patio Springtime

It's my first spring in my townhouse. I love being surprised at what shows up!

2009 3/29 Day 88 The Sun Returns!

I walked on Davidson's campus, celebrating the return of the sun. Nice shadows, and lots of lovely petals lining the walkways.

I don't know if the umbrella was abandoned at the height of the storms, or in celebration of the sun's return.

Really and truly, spring is here. The dogwood is just beginning to bloom.

2009 3/28 Day 87 Through the Door

After four days of rain, my world is still wet, the view from my door is very green! This was a brief respite before the rain began again.

2009 3/27 Day 86 Through the Rocks

One more from last weekend's hike, and hopefully I will get some new shots this weekend! If you follow the stairway of a previous post, you come to this hole in the rocks. I'm not far enough out to show context--you have to get through the hole and then drop a little ways (further if your shoulder screams and you let go). Then you are on a ledge by the waterfall--awesome!

2009 3/26 Day 85 Those little things

With the mountains still pretty much clothed in winter drab, the little spots of color, assuring us spring is on its way, are so welcome!

2009 3/25 Day 84 Marvin the Park Dog

Marvin apparently lives close to the park, and choses to accompany hikers. He went every step we did!

2009 3/22 Day 81 Horse Shoe Pasture Falls

It's hard to capture the feel....you need the roaring sound, the spray hitting your face, and some scale to fully experience the falls (they are 120-150 feet high). On the return hike, they are an oh-so-welcome sight, as it means you made it to the top of the hill and have an excuse to stop and breathe--and enjoy the cool spray.

2009 3/21 Day 80 Drats!

Because of the hours I work, I don't usually drive up during daylight. Imagine my surprise to discover my retaining wall in pieces. As if I did not already have enough to do!!

2009 3/20 Day 79 Happy First Day of Spring

Weeds are flowers, too. Happy ones, usually.

2009 3/18 Day 77 Take my breath away!

Oh, to be a bird and sit totally surrounded by this!

Looking for the green!

2009 3/16 Day 75 Spring!

They are not in full bloom yet, but we are having so much rain (I snapped this in a brief let-up) that I'm afraid all the blossoms may end up on the ground.

2009 3/13 Day 72 The sky says it all

It's not going to be a nice weekend, weather-wise.

2009 3/12

When I saw the book and my chosen bookmark, it just struck me as funny.

2009 3/11 Day 70 Why do I like it?

2009 3/9 Day 68 Spring Walk

One weekend cold, cold rain followed by lots (for us) of snow. The next weekend it's hot and sunny! These are photos from yesterday's walk at Lake Norman State Park.

2009 Day 67 Pretty in Pink

These will be the last of the snow pictures, but I couldn't resist. I just loved these bundled up girls!

2009 Day 63 More snow/ice

Poor fish. It's a cold, cold home!

This is the solid ice left after shoveling is done. It makes getting in or out pretty tricky! So now I know; there is a good reason to shovel sidewalks when it snows.

2009 Day 62 And then there was snow!

2009 Day 61 The Ice Cometh

We had rain for two solid days before it turned to sleet Sunday evening. The fish pump quit almost immediately, the waterfall stopped, and the pond froze over. Poor fish!

2009 Day 60 Favorite Things

I got out my Bible study things and it hit me how much I like this pen. Its cheery color, its hefty size, everything about it. It makes my writing happy. And blank paper---how much better can it get! What potential! What anticipation! I absolutely love the process of putting thoughts on paper, hopefully making some sort of order out of chaos. It's fun to have my new colorful placemats taking part in the adventure.

2009 Day 59 On a Tightrope

2009 Day 58 Through the Stargate

It just has not been a week for photo-taking...I'm still borrowing from last weekend's walk in the botanical garden!
