2009 Day 147 Snakes!

Tony and I took a break from cleaning out his storage facility, and walked at a lovely park with wide, paved trails. On either side of part of the trail was a boggy area--full of wildlife!

2009 Day 146

A brake light went out, so we had to remove the entire back panel. I figured we'd just change all four lights and be done with it. Three of the four bulbs were shaped the same, so you'd assume they were the same...until after you bought them and tried to install them. Fortunately we did the installation in the auto parts place parking lot, so could go right back in and make the exchange.

2009 Day 141

Little Stony Man Cliffs, on a portion of the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park (Virginia). May 19, 2009. Spectacular. The weather was gorgeous, the views spectacular, and the company of my son wonderful. A great day!

I've just caught up after a lull in posting, so to see more of the trip, keep scrolling down for a while!

2009 Day 140

Small creatures of the trail (Shenandoah National Park in Virginia). Photos of the larger creatures did not turn out so well. While driving out of the park along the winding roads, we encountered numerous deer which were absolutely unafraid of the car and would not be in any hurry to get out of the road. While hiking, we came up on a rabbit that was a bit more skittish, but which sat and posed provocatively. Unfortunately the light was fading by this time and all shots are fuzzy.

2009 Day 139

Shenandoah National Park May 19, 2009. I think I could live in Virginia!

2009 Day 138

I would say "like mother; like son," but Jonathan is the one who introduced me to Project 365 and thus to the joys of photography. Shenandoah National Park (Virginia) May 19, 2009

2009 Day 137

At a rest stop in Shenandoah National Park (Virginia). These instructions cracked me up. On an official set of directions? #1 and #2? I'll bet our international visitors are still trying to figure this out. And what's with the special coating? Some super duper poison that now I have on my hands? Or does this shade of green repel bacteria?

2009 Day 134

May 19, 2009 (I am not posting on the correct days until I get caught up...and I have more photos to post for this day than one post would accommodate!) Luray Caverns in Virginia. Jonathan and I toured the caverns, listened to the stalactite organ, and were intrigued by the above scene. The ceiling was perfectly mirrored in water below, but it was hard to tell it was reflections. A magical place that photos do not do justice!

I thought this grouping looked like a some people walking along....Jonathan said I had a vivid imagination. Maybe so. :-) I was able to keep the claustrophobia at bay long enough to be wowed by these caverns, although my chest hurt from the effort when we hit fresh air again.

2009 Day 133

The writing on the cakebox cracked me up. The vegan cake inside almost did me in!
Happy Graduation, Jonathan.

2009 Day 132

May 16, 2009: Terri's bridal shower. Terri, Paula and I have been friends since college (Paula and I since high school). We see each other rarely, so this was a good day all around!

2009 5/11 Monday Day 131

This bench caught my eye on a recent trip to the library.

2009 5/8 Friday Day 128

I was thinking today how some people like to have statues and pictures of Jesus or saints or Mary around. Images of the cross. I've never really understood that. Today it occurred to me rather suddenly that I do the same thing. This flower certainly is NOT God....but in a very real way it is. God in my pond. I really do understand that.

2009 5/7 Thursday Day 127

It's Big Draw, and I'm the "purple top" lady tonight. Here are the racks waiting to even move to Hematology...

And here are the racks waiting to go on the rocker....

...and the racks that have been run and are waiting to be approved. I see purple tops when I close my eyes! It was the never ending parade. My body is tired, tired, tired, but my mind is still in a whirl.

2009 5/3 Sunday Day 123

Yesterday as I painted baseboards, I had to continually work around these big shelves taking up an awful lot of floorspace while they wait for me to finish painting and set them up.

2009 5/2 Saturday 122 Escape from the Ark

After seeing this Noah's Ark on Day 110, I wondered where the critters might end up. While driving an alternate route home from work, I found out.

2009 4/30 Thursday Day 120

Incredibly, all this furniture came out of Jonathan's Toyota Echo.

Assembly required.

We've done as much as possible until the baseboards are painted, touch up is completed, and the rest of the furniture gets up here (road trip next weekend!).
